ORTHOPEDIC PHYSIOTHERAPY

  • Orthopedic physiotherapy
refers to a way of treatment of injuries &disorder related to the skeletal system like associated muscles ,joints, bones, ligaments, tendons & connective tissue.
  • Orthopedic physiotherapist treat any condition that affects our ability to move or function physically in our daily life.
  • Orthopedic physical therapy can be primary or complementary treatment option for the musculoskeletal condition like arthritis ,bursitis, joint pain, lower back pain, scoliosis, planter fascitis, muscular dystrophy.

  • After surgery like-hip & knee replacement, knee arthoscopy, rotaror cuff repair ,orthopedic physical therapy may help reduce pain, improve range of motion, normalize walking & prevent excessive scar tissue buildup .it may also help regaine balance, strength & mobility.

  • Orthopedic physical therapy can help an acute injury like-sprain,tear meniscus or ligament as a result of single trauma of the body.A chronic injury like-carpal tunnel syndrome, tennis elbow, small repetitive injuries to tendons, bones or joints are treated by orthopedic physiotherapist.

MANUAL THERAPY

Manual therapy is a clinical approach based on skiled hand-on therapy to decrease pain & improve the mobility to joints, soft tissue & nerves.Patients with acute & chronic pain & joint stifness & muscle tension can benefit from manual therapy. Their aim is to increase joint mobility & pain free range of movement as well as a better circulation within the joint.Joint mobilisation or manipulations are passive movement applied to a joint. Manual therapy of the soft tissues is the application of manual pressure to the skin, muscles, tendons, ligaments & fascia. The soft tissue manual therapy technique are- muscle energy technique MET, myofascial release, tigger points release, neural mobilisation, visceral manipulation. Mobilisation with movement is application of manually applied accessory joint glide with pain free active movement.

DRY NEEDLING THERAPY

dry needling therapy is an invasive procedure where a fine needle or acupuncture needle is inserted into the skin & muscle. dry needling  is a technique that physiotherapist used to treat musculoskeletal pain & movement issues. It always use a part of a larger pain management plan that could include exercise ,stretching, massage . Dry needling is applied to muscles & tissues for decrease tightness, increase blood flow & reduce local or refferred pain & it breckdown highly sensitive & painful tigger point which develop in muscles.

THERAPEUTIC MODALITY

A modality is a methord tool or type of treatment used by a physiotherapist. Therapeutic modalities refer to the administration of thermal, mechanical, electromagnetic & light energies for therapeutic purpose. They are commonly used to relief pain ,reduce inflammation, improve circulation ,tissue healing ,scar tissue remodelling, increase renge of motion ,enhance muscle activation ,reduce oedema. The therapeutic modalities are- ultrasound ,transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation, interferential therapy, laser therapy, cryo therapy, mechanical traction ,muscles stimulator.
